Jerusalem in top 10
I’m very excited because iExplore just came out with their list of Top Ten Summer World Travel Destinations for Cultural Exploration and Jerusalem is on the list. Jerusalem ranked 6th after The Pyramids of Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, Thailand, Madagascar, and the Great Wall of China, and beat out the Taj Mahal in India, Tunisia, Vietnam and Japan.
Because the list is determined by vacation purchases of iExpolore adventure and experiential travelers, it means that people are visiting Jerusalem in droves, a fact to which I can attest on a personal basis. The city is crawling with busloads of tourists.
According to iExplore, the main attractions are, “The old walled city of Jerusalem, a holy site of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, is dominated by historic sites such as the Dome of the Rock, Wailing Wall, and church of the Holy Sepulchre.”
Well, that’s true, but there’s so much more.
There’s the Hutzot HaYotzer crafts fair going on tonight, for goodness sake, and the Italian culture and pasta festival at the Museum of Italian-Jewish Art, too. Also, a bazaar of recycled eco-furniture, accessories, and art at Merkaz Hamagshimim Center. Do you think they have that in Machu Picchu? Hardly likely.
